BIG DOG CRUNCHY MUFFINS 2 carrots 2 3/4 cups water 1 egg 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons honey 1 1/2 bananas, pureed OR 1 apple, shredded 4 cups whole wheat flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 tablespoon cinnamon 1 tablespoon nutmeg Mix all wet ingredients together in a bowl. Add the prepared bananas or apple. Mix thoroughly and set aside. Combine the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients and mix thoroughly. Coat a 12-hole muffin pan with nonstick spray. Fill each muffin hole 3/4 full. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees |
CAROB CRUNCHIES 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour 1 egg 1/4 cup applesauce 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 beef bouillon cube dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water 1 tablespoon honey 1 tablespoon molasses 1 cup carob chips Mix all ingredients together until well-blended. Knead dough two minutes on a lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes in 300-degree oven Remove from oven and let cool. Melt carob chips in microwave or saucepan. Dip cooled biscuits in carob or lay them on a flat surface and brush the mixture over them with a pastry brush. |
TUNA TREATS 1 cup yellow cornmeal 1 cup oatmeal 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 small can tuna in oil, undrained 1/3 cup water Grind oatmeal in processor to make a coarse flour. Set this aside in a small bowl. Process tuna with the oil and water. Add all the rest of the ingredients. Pulse till mixture forms a ball. Pulse to knead for 2-3 minutes. Knead on floured surface till it forms a soft ball of dough. Roll out to 1/8 - 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 20-25 minutes in 350-degree oven. |
BARKING BARLEY BROWNIES 1 1/4 pounds beef or chicken liver 2 cups wheat germ 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour 1 cup cooked barley 2 eggs 3 tablespoons peanut butter 1 clove garlic 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 teaspoon salt – optional Liquefy liver and garlic clove in a blender. Add eggs and peanut butter. Blend until smooth. In separate mixing bowl, combine wheat germ, whole wheat flour and cooked barley. Add processed liver mixture, olive oil and salt. Mix well. Spread mixture in greased 9x9-inch baking dish. Bake 20 minutes (or until done) in 350-degree oven. Cool and cut into pieces suitable to dog’s size. |
CHEESY COOKIES 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/4 cups cheddar cheese – shredded 2 cloves garlic - finely chopped 1/2 cup vegetable oil 4-5 tablespoons water Combine all ingredients except water. Whisk in food processor until consistency of cornmeal. Add water until mixture forms a ball. Roll into 1/2-inch thickness and cut into shapes. Place shapes on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake10 minutes (depending on size) in 400-degree oven. Cool and store in refrigerator. |
BEEF TWISTS 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup corn meal 1 package unflavored gelatin 1/4 cup milk 1 egg 1/4 cup corn oil 1 jar strained beef baby food 1 beef bouillon cube – dissolved in water 3/4 cup boiled water OR beef stock Sift dry ingredients in large bowl. Add milk, egg, oil, beef and beef bouillon. Stir until well mixed. Roll out on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut in 1/4 x 3 inch strips, twisting each strips 3 turns. Place strips on cookie sheet. Bake 35-40 minutes in 400-degree oven Store in refrigerator. |
