need
to become aware
of the need for support to your organization and be provided a neat way to feel
that they're helping out. As part of a program to educate grade school youngsters,
try the "Silly Stunts" event. Have one or more of your representatives make an appointment with the school principal and certain staff to get permission to promote your program. The program consists of a presentation, to individual classes or as a school, introducing the kids to animal welfare concerns in general, and then to your organization in particular. Avoid using disturbing graphics or descriptions that would turn some kids away from your cause. They can be exposed to that when they're emotionally able to handle it. At the same time, be creative in getting your point across to the degree that they'll ask questions and become little ambassadors. During the program explain a fundraising event you'll be helping set up at the school that'll be great fun for the kids and great "humiliation" for the administration and teachers. The premise is to put a large, clear container in the school office. Decorate the container appropriately for your organization and provide a stack of your brochures or other informational material next to it. Children then bring money to school each day for one or two weeks to reach a certain goal - say $800 or $1000, depending on the size of the school. Their incentive (besides helping the animals) is this: The principal, certain teachers, staff and other people associated with the school have offered to take part in various stunts once the goal has been reached.
